Set us free, O God, from the bondage of our sins, and give us the liberty of that abundant life which you have made known to us in your Son our Savior Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
A Prayer for Our Candidates for the 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta and Our Nominating Committee: O God, we lift up each candidate for 10th Bishop of the Diocese of Atlanta as well as each member of the Nominating Committee for your blessing. Open all hearts and minds to the guidance of your Holy Spirit. For the candidates ? be with them in their waiting and wondering. Guide them in their ongoing discernment. Give them courage to seek and do your will. For those on the Nominating Committee – grant them wisdom in their discernment. Calm their anxious moments with the reassurance of your presence. Give them courage to seek and do your will. Uphold us all by your grace and power. Give us faith in you and trust in one another and ourselves. We pray all of this and more in the name of Your Son, Our Lord, Jesus Christ, Amen.
Holy Eucharist Readings for February 5, 2012
First Reading: Isaiah 40:21-31
Psalm: 147:1-12, 21c
Epistle: 1 Corinthians 9:16-23
The Gospel: Mark 1:29-39
Bring your Blessed Palms: Please bring your blessed palms from last Palm Sunday so they can be burned to make ashes for this year’s Imposition of Ashes. Albert+
CHP Food Pantry: The Food Pantry continues to accept applications for new volunteers. Needs are: powdered milk, jelly, oatmeal, and spaghetti noodles. Thank you for your support. Suzanne Ryerson
Support Your Flower Guild: Thank you for your generous donations for the flowers that enhance our worship experience! Fresh flowers are an essential part of our worship. Every Sunday’s flowers are worth at least $50. Since there is no money in the budget to take care of this need, there is a sign-up sheet in the narthex with available dates for your memorial or thanksgiving gifts. HELP US TO FILL ALL THE DATES ON THE CALENDAR to show your support for the ladies who create the lovely arrangements. The minimum donation for part of an arrangement is $20. We hope this will encourage more than one person to sign up on each date. 2012 has begun very well with two generous donations. Your Flower Guild
Men’s Club: Saturday, February 11th will be our first breakfast meeting, at 9:00 a.m. All men and friends are welcome for fellowship and to hear Mr. Harrison tell us about the Brotherhood of Saint Andrew. Please sign up on the sheet in the Narthex if you are planning to attend and if you are able to help set-up and/or clean-up. John Ackermann
Safeguarding God’s Children Training: On Sunday, February 12, following the service Wilma Bammer will be doing Safeguarding God’s Children training in the center meeting room downstairs. All new Vestry members and anyone else who works with children are required to take this training. This includes nursery volunteers. The training should not take more than one hour. Wilma Bammer
Book Club: The book club will not meet this January, due to several conflicts in schedules. Let us plan to discuss ?I Want To Be Left Behind? by Brenda Peterson on Monday, February 13, place to be decided. John Ackermann
